European car specialists, take note: an expanding workshop in South Australia has a full-time opening for a skilled Motor Mechanic – European Vehicle Specialist.
The ideal person is an experienced mechanic who handles sophisticated European systems with ease and relishes the challenge of a stubborn electrical or mechanical fault. Your days will blend diagnostics, servicing, repair work and preventative maintenance, supported by up-to-date diagnostic tools and manufacturer-specific data.
Eligible candidates can access employer sponsorship, opening a long-term career in Australia. For technicians working on European cars in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, it is a considered next move.
Key Responsibilities
- Look after European vehicles from routine and scheduled servicing through to preventative maintenance, diagnosis and repair
- Get to the root of complicated electrical and mechanical problems
- Overhaul and maintain engines, transmissions, braking, steering and suspension systems
- Run computerised diagnostic equipment and specialised scan tools to investigate electronic and electrical systems and fix faults
- Make sense of wiring diagrams, fault codes, manufacturer specifications and technical manuals
- Dismantle engines, transmissions and other components to inspect and assess their condition
- Swap out or repair defective, worn or damaged parts, and put systems and components back together afterwards
- Change oil, filters and fluids and take care of other routine service items
- Carry out tune-ups, brake work and general mechanical repairs
- Confirm repaired systems run safely and correctly, finishing with a road test and a final quality check
- Document all diagnostic, repair and servicing work accurately
- Observe workshop safety procedures and hold your workmanship to a consistently high standard
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience as a Motor Mechanic, holding a recognised automotive trade qualification or equivalent
- Proven, hands-on work on European vehicles; European vehicle experience with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Volvo, Land Rover, Range Rover or similar brands is highly regarded
- Sharp fault-finding and diagnostic ability on electrical and mechanical systems, including use of computerised automotive diagnostic equipment and scan tools
- Confident diagnosing and fixing faults on your own, and capable of following manufacturer procedures, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- A current driver's licence and good English communication skills
- Committed to full-time employment in South Australia
- Must meet applicable requirements for employer-sponsored visa consideration
