Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Quality is the priority at this heavy vehicle workshop in Victoria, and its growing team needs a qualified, experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic. The position is hands-on and technical, made for someone who enjoys getting to the bottom of complex vehicle problems and takes pride in their workmanship.
Your work will cover heavy trucks, trailers and commercial vehicles through servicing, repairs, diagnostics, maintenance and warranty jobs. Key Responsibilities
- Service heavy diesel vehicles routinely and carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical faults as well as electrical and electronic faults, pinpointing causes and recommending the right repairs
- Complete safety inspections and preventative maintenance
- Repair trucks, trailers and heavy vehicles, including warranty work where required
- Work with the workshop's diagnostic tools and equipment
- Replace or repair electrical and mechanical components, then test vehicles and equipment once repairs are done
- Make sure every repair meets technical standards and keep accurate records of the work
- Observe safety procedures and workshop requirements, keeping the workshop to a high standard of cleanliness
- Lend support to other workshop team members when required
- Take part in technical training programs
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Mechanical Technology or equivalent
- At least 5 years of hands-on heavy diesel mechanical experience, including servicing and repairing trucks and heavy vehicles
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, backed by a solid understanding of heavy vehicle mechanical systems
- Working on multiple heavy vehicle brands is desirable
- Truck and trailer repair experience is highly regarded
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team, with good communication and problem-solving skills
- A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
- Strong safety awareness
- An HC Licence is desirable; an Automotive Air Conditioning Licence is also desirable
