Heavy Road Transport Mechanics

Keeping heavy transport fleets on the road is your speciality? This role calls for a qualified Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic who is proud of dependable equipment, precise fault diagnosis and quality mechanical work.

You will be part of an established, growing operation in Western Australia, looking after a modern heavy road transport fleet from a purpose-built workshop. What you bring will be central to fleet reliability, less downtime and vehicles that stay safe and running. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver scheduled and preventative maintenance on heavy road transport vehicles, keeping the fleet to high safety and operational standards
  • Diagnose mechanical faults, decide on effective repairs, and handle breakdowns and troubleshooting as they arise
  • Service and repair heavy multi-combination trucks and prime movers, including Volvo and Mack Titan units
  • Carry out engine, transmission, driveline and major component repairs, plus component rebuilds and replacements
  • Inspect equipment mechanically to pick up potential problems early
  • Record maintenance work and keep service records complete
  • Operate workshop tools and diagnostic gear correctly and safely
  • Work at a pace that keeps vehicle downtime to a minimum
  • Liaise with the workshop and transport teams to keep the fleet available
  • Observe all workplace health, safety and environmental procedures and keep the workshop clean and safe

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A recognised Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic trade qualification and proven experience in the Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic role
  • Solid road transport and heavy vehicle maintenance background, including demonstrated work on heavy multi-combination trucks
  • Volvo and/or Mack Titan prime mover experience is highly regarded
  • Sharp mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with experience in preventative maintenance programs
  • A record of major mechanical repairs and component rebuilds
  • A current C Class Australian driver's licence is essential; an HR licence is highly regarded
  • A current National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain one
  • Able to work a structured local roster
  • Strong safety awareness, attention to detail, a dependable approach to maintenance and repairs, and good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to relocate to Western Australia if required
