Motor Mechanic

A well-established workshop in Wallan, Victoria, wants a Motor Mechanic – Light Vehicle who can diagnose, service and repair modern cars with real confidence and hands-on skill.

Verifiable trade ability and genuine workshop experience come first. You will be expected to show a practical command of vehicle systems, precise fault-finding and safe, efficient repair work.

The workshop sees a broad mix of vehicles, with strong exposure to European makes and advanced diagnostic systems, so an experienced mechanic can put existing skills to work across different technologies. For technicians in Dubai, Sharjah or Kuwait, it is a considered next move.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle routine servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil, filter and general service procedures
  • Pinpoint mechanical and electrical faults with modern diagnostic equipment, inspecting systems to find the root cause
  • Service and repair petrol engines and their components
  • Inspect and repair transmissions, and strip down engines, transmissions and other assemblies for inspection
  • Keep braking, suspension and steering systems in sound repair
  • Replace worn, faulty or damaged mechanical parts, completing every repair to technical procedures, manufacturer specifications and service information
  • Check vehicles before and after repair, and road test them to confirm the work
  • Keep job and parts records accurate
  • Work to workshop safety and quality procedures, with tools, equipment and bays kept clean and organised
  • Talk clearly with workshop colleagues about repairs and what each vehicle needs

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A recognised Motor Mechanic – Light Vehicle trade qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum 12 months of relevant experience in an automotive workshop
  • Demonstrated hands-on servicing and repair of light vehicles, with working knowledge of modern mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
  • A strong ability to find faults and choose appropriate repairs
  • Experience across engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension and steering
  • Capable of understanding technical repair information and manufacturer specifications, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to reliable workmanship
  • Current driver's licence
  • Able to work efficiently in a busy workshop, both on your own and in a team, with professional communication and a positive attitude
  • European vehicle experience will be highly regarded; experience with Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, BMW or Mercedes-Benz will be advantageous
  • Willingness and ability to provide evidence supporting qualifications and employment experience
  • Ability to satisfy the requirements for available sponsorship
