Motor Mechanic

Key Responsibilities
- Track down faults in engines, transmissions, steering and other mechanical systems, using computerised diagnostic equipment
- Inspect components for faults, wear, deterioration and damage, and carry out vehicle inspections to establish the work needed for roadworthiness
- Remove and strip down engines, transmissions and other assemblies when required
- Repair, replace or rebuild worn or defective parts to the required technical standards
- Handle routine servicing and preventative maintenance, from oil changes and lubrication to tune-ups and scheduled procedures
- Work from technical information and manufacturer service specifications
- Test and adjust repaired components, then check vehicle performance after servicing and repairs
- Keep the workshop safe, clean and organised, and collaborate with fellow technicians to complete assigned jobs
- Produce dependable workmanship focused on vehicle safety and customer satisfaction
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or a higher qualification in Motor Mechanics, Automotive Technology or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional automotive experience, with demonstrated hands-on servicing and repair work
- Strong fault-diagnosis and troubleshooting ability, including experience with computerised automotive diagnostic systems
- Sound knowledge of engines, transmissions, steering and other mechanical systems
- Ability to work from technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and within a professional workshop team, with good communication and workplace skills
- Ability to provide evidence supporting relevant qualifications and employment experience
