Key Responsibilities
- Examine each damaged vehicle and its job sheet ahead of any repair, and confirm that delivered parts are right, fit for purpose and without defects
- Dismantle vehicles in line with the repair instructions and job requirements, stripping off damaged panels, frames and other components
- Repair, replace and refit panels and structural components
- Shape, cut, straighten and weld metal, and complete fabrication and repair tasks using suitable workshop tools and techniques
- Support rust treatment, frame alignment and structural repair work as required
- Apply body filler, then sand and prepare surfaces
- Rebuild vehicles with care once repairs are finished
- Confirm finished work satisfies the required quality and industry standards, and treat customer and company vehicles carefully throughout
- Operate workshop tools and equipment correctly and keep them, along with your bay, safe, clean, orderly and operational
- Comply with every workplace health and safety procedure, PPE requirements included
- Pull together with the team for an efficient workshop and keep up to date with current repair methods and industry practices
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Panel Beater trade qualification or equivalent industry experience
- A proven track record in smash repairs and automotive panel beating
- Able to demonstrate and verify relevant work experience and professional identity
- Strong command of vehicle body repair and panel replacement techniques
- Hands-on experience in fabrication, welding, cutting and metal shaping
- Understanding of structural repair, rust treatment and frame alignment
- Experience in surface preparation, sanding and applying body filler
- Able to take vehicle components apart and reassemble them accurately
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Uses tools and workshop equipment safely and responsibly, and is committed to following workplace safety and OH&S requirements
- Good teamwork and communication skills, with a reliable, motivated and professional work style
- Willing to participate in the employer's candidate verification and assessment process
