A well-established automotive repair operation in Dunedin, Otago, is looking for an experienced Panel Beater / Repair Technician who brings dependable technical skill, a careful eye and a professional manner.

The work is varied, covering structural and prestige repairs, with the possibility of handling high-profile marques such as Tesla and Jaguar Land Rover. A modern workshop, up-to-date repair equipment, ongoing I-CAR certification training and structured development pathways give established skills room to keep growing. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess what each repair involves before starting, reviewing the job sheet so the required process is clear
  • Carry out collision and panel repairs with accuracy and professionalism, sticking to approved repair procedures and workplace instructions
  • Check with management whenever further repair guidance is needed
  • Trial-fit replacement parts to confirm they sit correctly, and flag any parts that are missing, incorrect or additionally required
  • Finish every assigned repair before the vehicle moves on to painting
  • Tag removed parts with the relevant job number and store them in an organised, clearly identified way
  • Get repaired components and parts ready for the Paint Department
  • Complete final reassembly checks, including headlight positioning and any other adjustments required
  • Inspect finished repairs for quality and safety, signing off the work once the required quality checks are done
  • Keep the workflow efficient while meeting the expected repair standards

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A Trade Certificate at an equivalent Level 3 or Level 4 standard, or alternatively at least 3 years of relevant technician experience
  • Demonstrated hands-on panel beating or vehicle repair experience, with the ability to interpret job sheets, follow repair procedures and complete technical work without constant supervision
  • A strong focus on safety, accuracy and repair quality, supported by high attention to detail
  • Good communication and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a workshop team
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Current New Zealand residency or a valid applicable work visa
  • Commitment to ongoing technical training and professional development
  • Sponsorship is available for the right candidate
