Spray Painter and Panelbeater

Body repair specialists, take note: a growing automotive workshop on Auckland's North Shore is adding skilled Panel Beaters and Spray Painters to its expanding crew.

Hands-on workshop time, proven technical skill and a track record of quality work are what the employer values. Expect a mix of vehicles, and expect to be trusted with them, owning each job until it meets a professional standard.

Overseas applicants will be assessed largely on their previous employment and trade experience. If you are building your career in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, this is a considered next move.

Key Responsibilities

  • Panel beat and repair vehicle bodies to a professional level, tackling rust and related body restoration
  • Spray paint and refinish vehicles of many different brands and models
  • Work out the repair approach for each vehicle, prep damaged surfaces and use the techniques that suit
  • Own your allocated jobs end to end, organising your time to hit agreed deadlines
  • Deliver top-quality finishes and workmanship with little need for supervision
  • Stick to workshop and safety procedures, keeping your bay tidy and professional
  • Keep fellow team members in the loop
  • Lend a hand with race car prep, events and track days when required
  • Support colleagues when the workload ramps up

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience, including a proven background as a Panel Beater or Spray Painter
  • Has worked on many vehicle makes and models; for Panel Beater applicants, hands-on rust repair is needed
  • Can carry a repair job through to completion on your own, with sharp attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Can show genuine work experience that is open to verification
  • Dependable and self-driven, with a positive outlook and strong work ethic
  • Fits in well with a multicultural team; good spoken English is essential
  • NZ residency or a current NZ work visa is advantageous
  • Applicants from overseas are welcome, with sponsorship available for suitable international candidates
  • Minimum availability of 30 hours per week
  • Willing to work Saturdays in busy periods when required
