Bar and Restaurant Manager

Seasoned hospitality leaders have several doors open in New Zealand right now. A leading hospitality group is appointing experienced Hospitality Managers to full-time roles across the Auckland, Southland, Canterbury and Queenstown regions, and this vacancy centres on bar and restaurant management.
The group is after people with solid front-of-house management behind them, a genuine service mindset and the confidence to run a venue well. Suitable overseas candidates may be offered sponsorship. If you are managing a bar or restaurant in Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi, it is a considered next move.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day venue and front-of-house operations so service runs without a hitch, and pick up any further operational duties venue management requires
- Uphold the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, the Gambling Act 2003, liquor licensing conditions, venue policies and workplace safety obligations
- Coach staff in responsible service and in handling customers well
- Control liquor stock, purchasing, inventory and reporting, and build efficient rosters across bar and service teams
- Keep the venue clean, tidy and well presented, with all equipment maintained and working properly
- Keep venue records, incident reports and daily paperwork up to date, and make sure cash handling, financial and security procedures are followed
- Plan and back promotions that lift sales and guest engagement, helping the management team reach its business and profitability goals
- Give guests excellent service while keeping the venue safe for patrons and staff alike
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in hospitality or front-of-house management, plus a relevant hospitality qualification or proven industry experience
- Must hold a Duty Manager Certificate or be eligible to obtain one
- Strong grounding in hospitality operations and customer service, with experience leading teams in a busy venue
- Experience with TAB and gaming/pokie machines is highly desirable
- Knowledge of responsible service practices and liquor licensing regulations
- Ability to work full-time hours (30–40 hours per week) and flexible hours including weekends, late nights and public holidays
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
