For experienced chefs ready to lead rather than simply cook, this is a considered career step. A well-established care organisation in New South Wales seeks a Chef Manager to run its kitchen and guide a team that serves older residents high-quality meals.
The position calls for a qualified professional who wants accountability for the bigger picture: people leadership, menu design, food standards, compliance and overall kitchen results.
You would work Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, on a competitive package of $92,820–$109,200 plus salary packaging benefits, within a supportive, purpose-driven organisation. Whether you currently cook in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, this could be your next move to Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold full accountability for how the kitchen runs each day, keeping it safe, efficient and compliant with the relevant regulations
- Direct and coordinate the kitchen team so service standards stay consistent
- Coach, mentor and support kitchen employees while fostering a respectful, positive and collaborative workplace
- Plan, cook and supervise nutritious resident meals, building menus around nutritional needs and personal preferences
- Check that every meal leaves the kitchen on schedule and at the right standard, overseeing preparation, cooking, portion sizes and plating
- Uphold rigorous HACCP, hygiene and food safety practices
- Look after stock levels, purchasing and food supplies
- Help keep food costs under control and reduce waste
- Liaise with care staff on special diets and individual meal needs
- Act on resident feedback and bring forward fresh ideas for menus, processes and the wider dining experience
- Keep kitchen records and mandatory documentation accurate and up to date
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised qualification in Commercial Cookery
- Strong background working as a Chef Manager, Head Chef or in another senior culinary role
- Track record running a commercial, institutional or large-scale catering operation
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and supervising staff
- In-depth knowledge of HACCP, hygiene and food safety requirements
- Capacity to plan and produce varied, nutritious, high-quality meals, with a clear understanding of special dietary and nutritional requirements
- Well-developed organisational and kitchen management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with other teams
- A commitment to high standards of resident care and service
- Background in aged care, healthcare, hospitality or large-scale catering is advantageous
