Cooking on a busy line in a Gulf hotel or restaurant and ready for a fresh chapter? A long-standing premium hospitality venue in Invercargill, Southland, is recruiting a seasoned Chef de Partie for a full-time position.
Service here spans several dining styles, so the role suits a chef who thrives under pressure and cares about every plate leaving the pass. You will join an established culinary brigade, keeping quality, consistency and presentation at a high level while helping the kitchen run smoothly each day.
For experienced professionals, it is a considered career step, with genuine room to develop inside a polished hospitality setting in New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook and plate dishes to the venue's recipes and standards, keeping quality, presentation and portions consistent
- Help with the daily running of the kitchen, including prep work and putting new seasonal menus into service
- Uphold food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards and follow health and safety procedures on every shift
- Check the quality of what goes out and keep kitchen waste to a minimum
- Stay quick and organised through peak service and hit your deadlines
- Rotate stock and help keep inventory under control
- Keep your work area tidy, orderly and safe
- Work closely with the kitchen brigade and front-of-house staff, and pitch in on catering, functions and special events when needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum of 2 years in a commercial kitchen, including time as a Chef de Partie or in a comparable position
- Level 4 Cookery qualification or an equivalent
- Background in a hotel, function or high-volume kitchen is advantageous, and exposure to à la carte, fusion or Asian cuisine is an advantage
- Real passion for turning out high-quality food, backed by a sound grasp of food safety and hygiene practices
- Excellent communication and a cooperative approach to teamwork
- Able to keep performing under pressure in a fast-moving kitchen, with a positive outlook and flexibility to cover varied shifts
- Prepared to relocate to Southland, New Zealand
