An established hospitality team in New South Wales is adding a qualified, experienced Chef to its quality dining and events business. The kitchen mixes à la carte service with large-scale functions, so your week could span restaurant covers, weddings, corporate events, private functions and special occasions.

The team prizes fresh produce, consistency, precision and professional standards. You will cook beside seasoned culinary professionals and have room to put forward ideas on menus, food costing, kitchen processes and locally sourced produce.

For chefs based in Dubai, Doha or elsewhere who want to establish themselves in Australia, it is a considered next move into the NSW regional dining sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cook a varied line-up of high-quality dishes for à la carte and function services, choosing the right technique for each plate
  • Partner with the Head Chef on delivering menus and day-to-day kitchen needs, and contribute to menu planning, development and costing
  • Choose, check and prepare fresh ingredients to the required quality, drawing on sound knowledge of local and regional produce and its handling
  • Look after food storage, stock rotation and ingredient handling, and help with ordering and inventory control
  • Watch preparation closely so consistency, quality and presentation hold up
  • Limit waste through careful preparation, portion control and storage
  • Uphold strict hygiene and food safety standards across the kitchen
  • Stay effective through busy restaurant and function services and help keep kitchen workflow smooth
  • Guide junior kitchen staff when needed, delegating suitable tasks in line with their capability
  • Spot ways to make the kitchen more efficient and pass on your recommendations
  • Work hand in hand with the wider hospitality team to keep guest experiences excellent

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Holds a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or a recognised qualification that is equivalent
  • Has at least 3 years in professional kitchens relevant to this role
  • Brings solid commercial cooking and food preparation ability, built in quality dining settings
  • Fine dining experience is advantageous
  • Regional or rural hospitality experience is advantageous
  • Understands hygiene, food safety and correct kitchen procedures, and handles seasonal and fresh produce with confidence
  • Takes real care over the consistency, presentation and quality of every plate
  • Keeps up in a fast-paced kitchen by juggling several tasks and managing time well
  • Remains calm and decides effectively when the pressure is on
  • Communicates clearly, works as part of a team and can assist in supervising and allocating tasks to junior staff
  • Shows professionalism and a commitment to high hospitality standards
  • Is genuinely interested in a long-term culinary career in Australia
  • Must satisfy relevant Australian employment and visa requirements; for suitable overseas candidates without Australian work rights, visa sponsorship is available
