An accomplished Head Chef with proven kitchen leadership is wanted to take charge of the performance and development of a busy hospitality kitchen in South Australia. You will be central to upholding food standards, building the kitchen team, keeping costs under control and strengthening the wider food operation. Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of daily kitchen operations, service delivery and the overall performance and standards of the kitchen
- Lead, supervise, train and mentor chefs and junior kitchen staff, steering the team through high-volume and peak services
- Hold food quality, presentation and portion control to a consistent standard, ensuring recipes and preparation methods are followed
- Coordinate prep, cooking and service requirements, monitoring workflow to lift operational efficiency
- Contribute to menu planning, specials and seasonal food development
- Watch food, labour and operational costs, managing stock ordering, inventory and suppliers with effective wastage reduction and stock-control practices
- Keep food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards strict
- Partner with venue management and the wider hospitality team, keeping the kitchen professional, structured and positive
- Spot operational issues and put practical solutions in place
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated background as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen professional and proven capability to run a commercial kitchen on your own
- Strong hands-on skills in cooking and food preparation, and willingness to take an active, hands-on role in the kitchen
- Experience managing kitchen teams and delegating, with a professional approach to team leadership and staff development
- Understanding of food costing, labour control, stock management and wastage, plus strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
- Experience within pubs, hotels, clubs or high-volume hospitality environments is advantageous
- Ability to keep quality and consistency high through busy services and to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Strong organisational, time-management, communication and interpersonal capabilities
- Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial industry experience
