Stepping in as a Chef de Partie in Rodney, Auckland, you will own your section and work with senior chefs and the wider brigade. Key Responsibilities
- Run an assigned kitchen section day to day, from mise en place and service prep through to cooking and presenting dishes to a consistently high professional standard
- Take direction from the Head Chef and Sous Chef while showing initiative in your own section
- Help prepare daily specials and seasonal menus, and bring ideas and skills that support menu development and daily service
- Produce international-style dishes suited to a professional dining setting
- Use ingredients carefully to protect quality and keep unnecessary food costs down, cutting waste through careful prep, storage and stock control
- Keep every prep area clean, organised and ready for service, with high standards of personal hygiene, food safety and sanitation
- Watch stock levels, tell senior kitchen staff which ingredients are needed, and help receive, check and properly store deliveries, rotating stock across chillers, freezers and dry storage
- Stay calm and efficient through high-volume service
- Join team meetings, training, supplier visits and development activities, and get to know local New Zealand ingredients and produce
- Speak with guests professionally and courteously when needed, and build positive relationships in a diverse, multicultural kitchen
- Pitch in to help colleagues when operations demand, and complete other reasonable duties set by senior kitchen management
Requirements & Eligibility
- Professional experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar commercial kitchen role, with practical experience running an individual section
- Proven ability to cook and prepare food to professional standards
- Strong understanding of food safety procedures, kitchen hygiene and food preparation
- Able to work on your own and contribute effectively to a team, performing consistently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work respectfully in a multicultural team
- A reliable, professional, positive approach with strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
- Passion for cooking, a willingness to develop professionally, and good organisation and time-management skills
- Relevant culinary qualifications are advantageous
- Candidates should be able to provide genuine, verifiable evidence of their professional experience and the skills they claim
