A high-volume restaurant on the Gold Coast wants a capable Sous Chef or Senior Chef to raise the standard of service, kitchen organisation and team performance.
The employer is looking for a chef with a proven professional kitchen record who is ready to own service more fully. Working with the Head Chef, you will help coordinate the brigade, protect food quality, manage preparation and keep each day running efficiently.
This suits a chef whose experience shows in consistent service, firm kitchen discipline and leading by example. If you have been running busy kitchens in Dubai or Doha, it could be your next move.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate preparation and service for lunch and dinner, organising prep so service runs efficiently
- Assist the Head Chef with running daily kitchen activities
- Own the consistency of food quality and presentation, holding productivity and standards through high-pressure periods
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team on the pass, training staff and reinforcing established procedures
- Keep an eye on stock levels, rotation and par requirements, and help control food costs and cut unnecessary waste
- Help with rosters and the efficient allocation of labour
- Uphold HACCP, food safety and WHS procedures and keep the kitchen clean, structured and ready for service
- Liaise with front-of-house staff on service needs, spotting problems during service and responding quickly and professionally
- Foster a positive, disciplined and collaborative kitchen culture
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or experienced Chef, with a strong background in professional commercial kitchens
- Proven capacity to manage preparation and busy service periods
- Demonstrated team leadership or supervisory experience, including training, guiding and supporting other kitchen staff
- Working knowledge of HACCP, food safety and WHS requirements
- Practical understanding of stock control, food cost management and kitchen staffing and labour requirements
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Keen attention to detail and kitchen cleanliness, keeping standards consistent during high-volume service
- Comfortable working on your own and within a team, with a professional, dependable and accountable approach
- A positive outlook, strong problem-solving ability and readiness to take ownership of kitchen performance and standards
- Available across a 7-day roster, including weekends and public holidays
