You will be closely involved in food preparation, menu development and kitchen operations, and in holding food quality and safety standards high. Key Responsibilities
- Cook high-quality dishes to recipe and presentation standards, delivering excellent food quality and service at all times
- Contribute to menu planning, recipe development and seasonal menu changes
- Keep taste, quality and portion control consistent, and oversee food preparation so standards hold
- Handle stock rotation, inventory and ordering, reducing food waste through sound stock and kitchen management
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and efficient
- Comply with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with kitchen colleagues through busy services and help train junior team members
- Check kitchen equipment and report anything needing maintenance
- Help continuously improve kitchen operations and customer satisfaction
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen, with strong knowledge of how commercial kitchens operate
- Understanding of HACCP principles, hygiene and food safety
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently at a fast pace
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Experience preparing Asian cuisine is highly regarded but not essential
- Commitment to keeping food quality and presentation at a high standard
