A new restaurant is opening in West End, and the Queensland hospitality group behind it wants an experienced Chef to help bring the kitchen to life. The emphasis is on proven ability: solid commercial kitchen experience, consistent preparation standards, kitchen leadership and the reliability to work well within a team.
If you have genuine hands-on experience and are comfortable taking responsibility in a busy kitchen, you are encouraged to apply. The role is full-time, paying $70,000–$80,000 per annum plus superannuation. For chefs currently running kitchens in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha, it is a considered next move to Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook and prepare menu items to the required recipes and standards, keeping flavour, presentation and portions consistent
- Keep food preparation and service running efficiently, coordinating the kitchen through busy trading periods
- Contribute ideas to menu development and improvements to recipes
- Train and supervise junior members of the kitchen team
- Uphold food safety requirements, cleanliness and safe working conditions throughout the kitchen
- Track stock usage, flag ordering needs, and help with stock rotation and waste reduction
- Support cost control and operational efficiency while communicating clearly with fellow kitchen and service staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant cookery qualification is preferred
- At least 3 years' experience as a professional Chef, including demonstrated hands-on work in a commercial kitchen
- Sound understanding of cooking and food preparation procedures, plus knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- Capable of juggling competing priorities in the kitchen and holding quality steady through high-volume service
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a reliable, committed attitude to work
- Mexican cuisine experience is advantageous
- Able to undertake interstate training when required
- Sponsorship consideration is available to suitably qualified applicants
