In a healthcare setting, the kitchen is part of patient care. A professional catering operation in Victoria is now seeking an experienced Cook, where dependable kitchen performance and food of consistent quality genuinely matter.

The role fits a Cook who can point to real commercial kitchen experience, sticks to established food preparation procedures and is at ease in a structured, high-volume operation. Hands-on skill, sound food safety knowledge and a team-first attitude will shape how well you succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cook meals to approved recipes and menu requirements, tailoring each to individual patient dietary and nutritional requirements
  • Organise preparation across breakfast, lunch and dinner services
  • Have meals finished within the required production and service timeframes
  • Deliver strong presentation, consistency, portion control and food quality
  • Observe food safety, hygiene, infection control and kitchen safety procedures
  • Oversee food storage and rotate stock appropriately
  • Keep the kitchen hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Partner with fellow catering staff so meal service runs without a hitch
  • Stay flexible as operational needs change, without letting service standards drop
  • Help create a positive patient experience by preparing food reliably and well

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated professional Cook experience gained in commercial kitchens, healthcare, aged care, hospitality or catering
  • Hands-on knowledge of commercial cooking and food preparation procedures
  • An understanding of hygiene, food safety and safe food handling requirements
  • Relevant qualifications in food handling or food safety
  • Able to follow recipes, menus, dietary instructions and workplace procedures every time
  • Able to work efficiently in a busy kitchen while meeting strict service deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
  • Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays included
  • A professional approach to the role
  • A strong focus on quality and attention to detail
  • A genuine interest in supporting patient wellbeing through quality meals
  • Able to satisfy applicable employment, work-rights, reference, criminal history and health-related pre-employment requirements
