Key Responsibilities
- Survey each site, measure precisely and interpret plans to confirm which flooring materials are needed
- Strip out old coverings and bring subfloors to the correct standard before laying
- Lay broadloom carpet from underlay and gripper through to seaming and stretching
- Fit carpet tiles in both homes and commercial premises
- Lay luxury vinyl plank flooring
- Cut, fit and finish every material with precision, then add trims, thresholds and edge finishes
- Handle repairs and rectification jobs as they arise
- Hold a high bar for workmanship on every installation while keeping your vehicle, tools and site orderly and safe
- Collaborate constructively with clients, builders and fellow trades
- Work in line with Australian workplace safety and flooring installation requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum of 3 years' work as a Floor Layer
- Hands-on broadloom carpet and/or vinyl plank experience you can demonstrate
- A strong grasp of subfloor preparation
- Accurate measuring skills and the ability to work from plans
- A proven track record of completing flooring installations to a professional standard
- A current driver's licence and a current construction White Card, both held before your start date
- Good communication skills and confidence in customer-facing situations
- Reliability and the physical capability to complete flooring work
- Comfortable working independently and as part of an installation team
- Highly regarded: commercial sheet vinyl experience, including welding, coving and wall vinyl
- Highly regarded: advanced floor preparation experience
- Highly regarded: floating floor or engineered timber installation experience
- Visa sponsorship may be available to suitably skilled overseas applicants with verifiable relevant experience
