Ready to turn your professional background into a leadership-focused role? A premium hospitality venue in Cairns, Queensland is looking for a Head Chef to show what they can deliver in a demanding modern kitchen.
You will own the culinary direction, the performance of the team and day-to-day kitchen standards. The right chef brings genuine, demonstrable experience in menu development, high-volume service, kitchen management and modern Japanese or Asian-inspired cuisine.
For experienced chefs working in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, it is a considered next move into Australian hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Own daily kitchen operations and overall performance, building an accountable, positive team culture
- Lead, coach and develop the kitchen brigade
- Design and roll out modern, seasonal menus, bringing in Japanese culinary techniques and Asian-inspired flavours where they suit
- Hold every dish to consistent standards of taste, quality and presentation
- Coordinate prep and service through high-volume periods
- Keep food costs, stock levels and kitchen budgets in check, and manage ordering and supplier relationships
- Uphold food safety, hygiene and workplace compliance, and look for ways to make kitchen systems more efficient
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a modern, high-end or premium kitchen
- Japanese, Asian or fusion cuisine experience is highly desirable
- Clear evidence of kitchen leadership and team supervision, with strong communication and team development skills
- A track record in menu development and seasonal food concepts
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Hands-on experience managing stock, food costs and kitchen operations
- Able to perform well during busy service, with a high level of attention to detail and presentation
- Your professional experience must be supported by appropriate employment and experience documentation; sponsorship is available to the right candidate following successful completion of probation
