This is a Head Chef appointment with genuine influence. A boutique hospitality venue in Queensland, now growing, wants a chef able to bring technical skill, fresh creative ideas and assured leadership to the next chapter of an already successful food operation.
Menus, specials and food quality will carry your input, and you will be accountable for the kitchen team and its daily running. Your professional background sits at the heart of the role, along with room to build your reputation as the venue expands.
For experienced chefs leading kitchens in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, it is a considered next move to Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape culinary direction in close partnership with management
- Design a seasonal menu that engages guests and keep it fresh over time
- Devise specials and help put together menus for events and functions
- Run the kitchen for lunch and dinner service, setting the pace by example when it gets busy
- Hold kitchen standards steady through every trading period
- Mentor the kitchen team and help each member grow
- Organise each day's food preparation
- Keep presentation and quality consistent on every plate
- Look after ordering, inventory and stock rotation
- Manage food costs carefully and keep wastage to a minimum
- Build kitchen rosters that work in practice
- Uphold HACCP along with workplace food safety standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- A strong Head Chef background, or an experienced Sous Chef ready to take on a leadership position
- Cert III/IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
- Strong experience developing menus
- Demonstrated ability to run a busy commercial kitchen and proven leadership of a kitchen team
- Strong knowledge of stock management and food costing
- An excellent grasp of food safety procedures
- A creative approach to modern Mediterranean-inspired food is advantageous
- Available to work Wednesday to Sunday
- Comfortable with weekend work and busy service periods
- Strong organisational and communication skills
