A full-time Head Chef position is open for a kitchen professional with a strong track record in Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine. The employer wants someone whose cooking, kitchen leadership and commercial experience are backed by a genuine professional background.
You will lead kitchen operations, uphold food standards, contribute to menu development and make sure the team delivers quality consistently through busy services. It is a chance to apply your verified culinary experience in an Australian commercial kitchen, and a considered next move for senior chefs working in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the kitchen's daily running and service preparation, organising prep schedules around expected service demand
- Cook authentic Singaporean and Malaysian dishes to consistent commercial standards, showing strong hands-on skill with curries, sauces, noodles, rice dishes and wok cooking
- Keep flavour, presentation and portion control consistent, checking ingredient quality and that correct preparation methods are used
- Bring practical ideas to menu development and new dishes
- Handle ingredient ordering, deliveries, storage and stock rotation, and watch food usage, portion sizes, costs and wastage
- Lead and coordinate the kitchen crew each day, training them in preparation, cooking and kitchen procedures and keeping communication clear across kitchen and service teams
- Oversee food safety, hygiene, temperature control and allergen requirements
- Make sure takeaway orders go out accurately and within the required timeframes
- Look after kitchen equipment and safe operating procedures, act on any operational or equipment issues, and keep the kitchen clean, organised and professional
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated professional experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior chef, including previous experience leading, supervising or training kitchen staff
- Strong practical experience in Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine, with proven hands-on capability across curries, sauces, noodles, rice dishes and wok cooking
- Commercial kitchen experience in a busy restaurant, takeaway or quick-service environment, and demonstrated ability to keep food quality consistent through busy service
- Strong practical skills in kitchen management and organisation, plus knowledge of commercial food safety and hygiene standards
- Experience with food costing, stock management and wastage control, and the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen and service teams
- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications are desirable
- Ability to provide genuine evidence supporting your professional experience and qualifications, and availability for full-time work, including weekends and public holidays as required
- Must satisfy applicable requirements for employer sponsorship and visa eligibility
