Experienced project professionals who have delivered complex buildings in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh may find a considered next move in Auckland. A Senior Project Manager is wanted to take responsibility for technically complex building projects across a varied portfolio of high-profile facilities.
The role calls for a proven record delivering construction, renewal, refurbishment or building-services projects while weighing technical needs against commercial and operational priorities. Assessment focuses on verified professional backgrounds and genuine capability, not simply on whether a past job title matches the vacancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the client-side owner of major physical works projects, planning scope, resources, budgets, programmes and delivery strategies
- Lead project teams and coordinate the contractors, consultants and stakeholders involved, monitoring how contractors and consultants perform
- Control project costs, schedules, risks, quality and outcomes
- Oversee construction and renewal works inside operational facilities, keeping projects running smoothly within live environments
- Assess technical requirements and building-services considerations
- Coordinate electrical, mechanical, structural, fire and water-related works
- Secure appropriate regulatory and building compliance
- Handle project communications and manage stakeholder expectations
- Produce accurate project and financial reporting, and manage documentation and contractual requirements
- Work through technical and delivery challenges while running several projects at once
- Share knowledge and contribute to developing the team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Senior project management experience within construction or building environments, with demonstrated delivery of complex projects from planning to completion
- Solid understanding of building construction and renewal works, plus technical knowledge of building services and critical systems
- Experience running projects inside complex or publicly accessible facilities is preferred
- Knowledge of New Zealand building regulations and compliance requirements, and an understanding of NZS 3910 contracts
- Sharp financial and commercial awareness
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with strong decision-making and problem-solving ability
- Able to balance competing priorities and deadlines
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred
- A professional history that can be verified; overseas applicants may be considered, with sponsorship available for suitable candidates
