Key Responsibilities
- Give every guest a welcoming, consistently professional experience, dealing with requests courteously and escalating issues when required
- Look after your assigned tables and section, keeping service quality high through busy trading periods
- Take orders accurately, pass requirements clearly to the relevant teams and process orders and payments correctly on the POS system
- Serve meals and drinks promptly, run food and beverages at peak times and carry multiple plates safely
- Set tables before service, then clear and reset them between sittings
- Guide guests through menu and beverage choices, using your food, wine and beverage knowledge to lift their experience
- Work in step with kitchen, bar and front-of-house colleagues
- Keep the dining room clean, organised and presentable
- Follow responsible service, hygiene and workplace safety procedures
- Be a cooperative, positive part of a high-performing hospitality team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated experience in restaurant waitstaff or food and beverage service, plus a relevant hospitality qualification or equivalent industry experience
- Proven capability in a busy, high-volume restaurant, including confidently managing multiple tables and sittings
- Ability to safely carry three plates
- Current RSA Certificate
- Previous experience using computerised POS systems
- A strong customer service mindset with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent English communication; reliable, honest and well-spoken
- Professional grooming and presentation
- Wine and beverage knowledge will be highly regarded
- Keen attention to detail and the composure to stay calm under pressure
- Flexible availability across weekdays, evenings and weekends, and a willingness to contribute to a professional team environment
