Air-Conditioning Refrigeration Mechanic

The scope is broad: commercial air conditioning, refrigeration, coolrooms, freezer rooms, ventilation, chilled water systems and commercial catering equipment across many systems and projects. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, servicing and upkeep of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, covering commercial refrigeration equipment and its associated systems
- Trace mechanical, electrical and refrigeration faults on air conditioning and refrigeration plant through structured diagnosis and troubleshooting
- Complete planned servicing and preventative maintenance on schedule
- Build and maintain coolrooms and freezer rooms
- Put in and maintain commercial and industrial ventilation, from general systems to kitchen exhaust and specialist ventilation installations
- Service catering and kitchen equipment in commercial premises
- Assist on chilled water systems, from installation through servicing and maintenance
- Commission and test systems, then verify their performance
- Rely on drawings, technical documentation and equipment specifications on each job, keeping job documentation and service records accurate
- Coordinate with other technicians and project teams, presenting a professional standard at every commercial and industrial site
- Comply with Australian workplace health and safety procedures
- Extend your technical knowledge through ongoing training and practical experience
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, HVAC, Electrical or a related trade; applicants from mechanical, maintenance, construction or manufacturing backgrounds with transferable skills may also be considered
- Proven hands-on experience in commercial or industrial environments, backed by a genuine and verifiable employment history relevant to the position
- Able to supply evidence of your qualifications, trade experience and technical skills, and to successfully complete the relevant skills and employment verification process
- Sound understanding of HVAC, refrigeration or related mechanical systems, with practical diagnostic and fault-finding ability
- Comfortable working both independently and within a professional technical team
- A firm commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety, plus good communication and problem-solving skills
- Willing to learn Australian workplace practices and keep developing professionally
- Able to meet applicable Australian employment and visa requirements
