You will use industrial paint systems and modern workshop equipment on high-standard work for demanding industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities
- Grit blast industrial work and prepare surfaces to the specified cleanliness grades of Sa 2.5 and Sa 3, verifying the standard is met before coating
- Ready substrates and materials to take protective coatings
- Build up coating systems, from zinc-rich primers to high-build epoxies and polyurethanes, covering stripe coats and every other stage in the specification
- Spray with airless and conventional rigs, reading wet film gauges as you go to hold each coat at the thickness required
- Apply QA/QC procedures throughout blasting and painting
- Service and inspect blasting and painting plant, diagnosing faults in the blast room and its equipment
- Move blasting trolleys in and out, loading and unloading them
- Leave the workshop area tidy, orderly and safe
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3 years in relevant industrial blasting and painting, and it is essential that this includes workshop-based industrial surface treatment
- A track record of abrasive blasting that achieves Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 standards
- Knowledge of industrial paints and protective coating systems, having worked with high-build epoxies, polyurethanes and zinc-rich primers
- Confident running conventional and airless spray equipment, laying down coatings precisely at the specified thicknesses
- A sound grasp of coating quality control and wet film measurement, and of the complete sequence from surface preparation through to coating
- Able to maintain and troubleshoot equipment well, with close attention to detail and a commitment to consistent workmanship
- Desirable: a forklift licence, and experience on gantry or overhead cranes is likewise desirable
