Care Assistant

Providers across Australia's aged care sector want dependable, suitably qualified Aged Care Workers and Personal Care Assistants for professional residential settings, with this role based in Melbourne, Victoria.

Day to day, you will help older people get through everyday activities while protecting their dignity, independence, safety, comfort and quality of life.

Candidates are judged on a blend of credentials, hands-on care background, communication and conduct, and your profile can be reviewed to match you with suitable providers. For carers currently based in Dubai, Riyadh or Kuwait City, it is a considered next move.

Key Responsibilities

  • Give every resident compassionate, respectful care built around the individual
  • Help with bathing, showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and personal hygiene
  • Support safe movement and transfers, using mobility aids correctly
  • Help at mealtimes with eating, drinking and feeding needs
  • Offer companionship and emotional comfort, and join residents in daily routines and meaningful pastimes
  • Work to each person's care plan and the facility's procedures
  • Notice and report any shift in a resident's physical, emotional or behavioural wellbeing
  • Keep care notes, records and paperwork accurate
  • Apply infection control, manual handling and safe-work procedures
  • Liaise clearly with nurses, carers, allied health professionals and families
  • Honour each resident's privacy, dignity, culture and preferences, encouraging independence and involvement in daily life within a safe, supportive setting

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A relevant qualification in aged care, healthcare, nursing assistance or personal care
  • Previous aged care, residential care or disability support experience preferred, together with practical knowledge of person-centred care principles
  • Strong interpersonal and communication ability, with a good level of English for talking with colleagues and residents
  • A caring, dependable and professional manner, plus the ability to build respectful relationships with residents and care teams
  • Capacity to work to care plans, procedures and workplace standards
  • Willingness to undergo required police checks, screening and health assessments
  • Flexibility across different shifts, including weekends when required
  • Offshore applicants may be considered for employer sponsorship subject to eligibility; onshore applicants holding suitable Australian work rights are also welcome to apply
