Selection is about more than landing an overseas role. Your nursing history, qualifications, English ability and preparedness for New Zealand professional standards will all be reviewed, and experience must be genuine and verifiable. Suitable international nurses can receive guidance through Nursing Council registration and, where relevant, the CAP pathway. For experienced nurses working in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, or elsewhere, it is a considered next step.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess each resident comprehensively, keep up regular health observations and deliver safe nursing care tailored to the person
- Draw up personalised care plans, revisit them as needs change, and record clinical notes accurately, fully and on time
- Notice shifts in a resident's condition early and raise concerns through the right channels, exercising sound professional judgement
- Protect residents' comfort, dignity, independence and overall wellbeing
- Earn the trust of residents and families through respectful relationships and clear, open communication with them and the wider care team
- Lead and mentor care assistants clinically while collaborating with them and other health professionals
- Champion best-practice procedures across the team and get involved in quality improvement work
- Help keep clinical care and service delivery at a high level, meeting all relevant professional, clinical and workplace standards
- Contribute to a workplace that is respectful and culturally inclusive
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualified Registered Nurse holding credentials suitable for assessment by the Nursing Council of New Zealand, and an educational background that meets New Zealand Registered Nurse scope-of-practice standards
- Minimum 2 years of post-graduate nursing experience; aged care or medical nursing experience preferred
- NZ Nursing Council CAP approval or willingness to complete the applicable registration pathway, and readiness to undergo New Zealand nursing registration assessment
- IELTS or OET scores that satisfy the Nursing Council's English language requirements
- Sharp clinical assessment and observation skills, with thorough documentation and close attention to detail
- Excellent communication, both spoken and written
- Demonstrated empathy and compassion toward older people in your care
- Comfortable working on your own initiative or alongside colleagues, with a positive, collaborative attitude
- A confident, accountable and professional manner, and dedication to high-quality nursing and continuous improvement
- InterRAI competency is advantageous
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate the authenticity of their qualifications, professional experience and supporting documentation, including a verifiable record of qualifications and employment
- Eligible overseas applicants may be considered for Accredited Work Visa sponsorship; suitable candidates working through Nursing Council registration can receive support, and CAP assistance may be considered for eligible international nurses
