Residential and commercial building projects in Victoria are the focus for an established construction business now hiring a capable Carpenter. The right tradesperson proves their carpentry expertise through practical site work, precise installation and a high standard of workmanship.

The scope runs from structural timber framing and flooring to external works, fittings and repairs. You will need to read plans with confidence, handle measurements accurately and deliver dependable results on site.

For experienced carpenters working in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, it is a considered next move into Australian construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Study architectural and construction drawings to map out carpentry tasks
  • Work out dimensions, materials and the sequence of work from project specifications
  • Mark out, measure, cut and shape timber along with other building materials
  • Erect wall frames and roof structures, and build floor joists and sub-floor systems
  • Fit structural timber components together, aligned accurately and fastened securely
  • Install timber window and door frames along with associated building components
  • Carry out fascia, wall cladding, roof sheathing and further external timber work
  • Fit prefabricated and timber fittings to project requirements, adjusting components until fit and finish are right on site
  • Repair, alter or replace timber structures that have been damaged
  • Put up and strip temporary timber formwork for concrete works
  • Work with hand tools, power tools and construction equipment in a safe, efficient manner
  • Keep workmanship to a high standard while observing site safety procedures

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Proven hands-on residential and/or commercial construction experience, taking in general carpentry, installation and repair work
  • Strong practical knowledge of structural carpentry and timber framing, with an understanding of construction methods and workplace safety procedures
  • Competent with carpentry hand tools, power tools and related equipment, and strong at measuring, cutting, fitting and installing
  • Able to interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a construction team
  • Willing to meet relevant Australian construction and site requirements; suitable qualified candidates may be considered for visa sponsorship
