Key Responsibilities
- Own the overall performance of the kitchen and coordinate daily food preparation and operations
- Lead and support the kitchen team throughout service, and help train and develop staff
- Cook high-quality meals across a varied commercial menu, turning out steaks and the other core dishes consistently well
- Review the existing menu and recommend where it can improve
- Create new dinner, takeaway and dine-in selections
- Refresh and improve the breakfast offering
- Keep food quality, presentation and portion sizes consistent, including in high-volume periods you have prepared the kitchen for
- Watch inventory, arrange restocking and manage food usage so unnecessary wastage is minimised
- Keep kitchen workflows efficient
- Oversee food safety, hygiene and cleanliness requirements
- Work with management to improve the overall food operation, keeping professional standards in every service
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated professional experience working as a Chef
- Background in a busy commercial or high-volume kitchen
- Strong cooking and food preparation ability
- Proven ability to cook steaks to a high standard
- Experience in menu development or menu improvement
- Able to run kitchen responsibilities independently
- Strong team coordination and leadership skills
- Works effectively at a fast pace, with close attention to food quality and consistency
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Able to work a rotating roster and willing to live on-site as required
- Committed to food hygiene standards and workplace safety
- A relevant culinary qualification and/or strong equivalent industry experience
