Childcare Worker

A long-standing Queensland early learning organisation has 12 full-time Childcare Worker positions on offer in the Cairns region.

The ideal educators are kind, driven and happiest when designing rich, joyful experiences for little learners, with an eye on a lasting career in the field. The centre runs as a close professional team that nurtures every child's growth, follows their curiosities and works hand in hand with families.

Eligible overseas applicants can be sponsored for a visa, so qualified international childcare professionals have a path to working in Australia, subject to the relevant visa and employment requirements. If you are an educator in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, this could be your next move.

Key Responsibilities

  • Watch over, guide and care for little ones aged 0–6 years in a secure, warm and stimulating room where each child feels respected
  • Nurture curiosity, self-belief, independence and social growth, tailoring support to every child's particular needs, interests and goals
  • Co-design and lead engaging learning experiences and educational programs that suit each age group and follow the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Capture each child's progress in portfolios, learning documentation, developmental records and electronic programming
  • Build trusting, respectful bonds with children and families, and keep parents, guardians and co-workers updated in a regular, professional manner
  • Partner with fellow educators so the standard of care stays high and consistent
  • Suggest fresh ideas and activities that spark learning and get children involved
  • Help the centre feel welcoming, upbeat and inclusive
  • Act in line with workplace policies, child safety procedures and the regulations, under the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standards
  • Join in training, professional development and team events

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, either already held or under way; Diploma-qualified applicants are encouraged too
  • Real enthusiasm for nurturing and teaching young children, and an ambition to build a long-term career in the Australian early childhood sector
  • A kind, patient and upbeat manner with children
  • Strong people and communication skills, earning the trust of children, families and fellow staff
  • Dependable, responsible and professional at all times
  • Strong at collaborating as part of a team
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and keen to keep learning, with an adaptable, open-minded way of working alongside children and educators
  • Understanding of the EYLF, NQF, National Regulations and National Quality Standards
  • At ease with computers and digital documentation systems
  • Current Queensland Blue Card or the ability to obtain one, and the ability to successfully complete a National Police Check
  • First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, or willingness to obtain the required certifications
  • Overseas candidates must satisfy applicable qualification and ACECQA assessment requirements
  • English language proficiency suitable for the relevant visa pathway, plus the ability to satisfy applicable Australian visa and sponsorship conditions
