Crane Heavy Diesel Mechanic

A well-established and growing heavy equipment company needs an experienced Mobile Crane Mechanic to service, maintain and repair its modern fleet of mobile cranes and heavy vehicles, keeping them safe, reliable and efficient across construction, industrial and infrastructure projects.

You will work in the workshop and on-site as required, relying on strong diagnostics to minimise downtime while upholding high safety and quality standards. The package includes a fully maintained work vehicle, fuel card and mobile phone, together with ongoing training, career development and long-term employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance across mobile cranes and heavy equipment
  • Track down and repair mechanical faults
  • Diagnose and rectify hydraulic and electrical faults
  • Attend breakdowns and emergency call-outs whenever required
  • Inspect, service and maintain heavy diesel engines and associated components
  • Record all work in maintenance records, inspection reports and service documentation
  • Make sure every repair meets manufacturer specifications and workplace safety standards
  • Collaborate with operators, workshop staff and site personnel
  • Keep the work area clean, safe and well organised
  • Contribute to ongoing gains in equipment reliability and performance

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A Heavy Diesel Mechanic trade qualification, or equivalent
  • Minimum three years of hands-on work as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic
  • Experience servicing mobile cranes or heavy plant equipment is highly desirable
  • Strong skills in fault-finding and diagnostics
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • A genuine commitment to workplace health and safety practices
  • Current driver's licence, with an HR licence preferred
  • Construction White Card, or the ability to obtain one
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
