Key Responsibilities
- Look after heavy processing equipment, both mobile and stationary, through servicing, inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs and getting machines ready before delivery
- Work out why equipment has broken down and what is really behind each mechanical fault
- Test hydraulic flow and pressure to diagnose problems, check hydraulic parts and replace or repair them as needed, using OEM technical documentation, service manuals and hydraulic schematics as your references
- Troubleshoot electrical control systems running on 12V and 24V, testing continuity and voltage against the electrical schematics
- Travel to customers' sites, whether metropolitan, regional or remote, to give technical help and respond to breakdowns
- Assess the state of each machine and recommend the preventative or corrective work it needs
- Produce thorough technical and service reports once work is done, and log photos, equipment settings, test results, repairs and inspections accurately
- Follow safety standards, workplace procedures and OEM specifications on every task
- Speak with customers directly and give them practical technical answers that help keep plant reliable and downtime low
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised trade qualification that is relevant, in Fitting, Boilermaking, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of post-trade experience in a relevant mechanical role, with exposure to fixed-plant, mining or quarry equipment
- Mineral processing, screening or crushing equipment experience is highly regarded
- Sharp fault-finding and problem-solving, with strong mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills
- Good hands-on understanding of hydraulics, and able to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Background on mobile or heavy industrial equipment, with basic electrical diagnostic skills for 12V and 24V systems
- Full unrestricted Australian C Class Driver Licence, or able to obtain one
- HR and forklift licences advantageous
- Happy to work in the workshop, at customer premises and on site, and to travel to remote and regional locations
- Physically fit for hands-on mechanical work, able to satisfy pre-employment medical requirements and pass drug and alcohol screening
- Dependable and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to safety and health in the workplace
- Works well alone and with others, bringing professional communication and customer service skills
