Key Responsibilities
- Join daily milking on a rotary dairy system
- Move and handle dairy cattle safely and efficiently, keeping an eye on livestock health and wellbeing and flagging animals that need extra attention
- Help cows through calving, then look after newborn calves and feed them according to farm routines
- Run feeding equipment and deliver feed to the herd
- Support dairy work across several farm locations, along with general farm duties as required
- Keep dairy facilities clean and maintained, with safe and hygienic working conditions
- Stick to established animal welfare and workplace procedures, working cooperatively with farm management and fellow staff
- Get scheduled tasks done accurately and on time
Requirements & Eligibility
- Previous experience on a dairy farm or working with livestock, including practical cattle handling
- Knowledge of basic dairy routines and animal care; milking experience will be highly regarded
- Able to work safely around large livestock and farm machinery
- Physically capable of standing, walking and doing manual work for extended periods
- A strong work ethic, initiative and a reliable, punctual, self-motivated approach
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, plus strong organisation and time management
- Able to follow instructions and established farm procedures, working independently or within a team
- You must hold a valid driver's licence and have access to your own vehicle
- Willing to live and work in Victoria
- Sponsorship is available for the right applicant; this is a one-person position due to available accommodation
