Electical Field Service Technician

Commercial kitchens and foodservice operators in Sydney rely on a technical service company in Regents Park to keep their equipment running, and it now wants an electrician to join its field team as an Electrician / Electrical Field Service Technician.
If routine installs leave you wanting more, this is the shift: you will chase down electrical faults, work out exactly why a machine stopped and leave the client with a fix that lasts. Days combine on-site service with diagnostics, repair, testing, commissioning and technical advice across a wide mix of commercial equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Attend client sites for breakdowns and planned servicing, maintaining and fixing commercial catering and foodservice equipment
- Work out the root cause of each failure through methodical fault-finding, using test instruments to check circuits and components
- Swap out or repair faulty electrical parts, and carry out wiring changes and equipment modifications where appropriately licensed
- Prove each unit after a repair so you know it runs safely
- Set up and commission new commercial equipment, and help assemble and electrically prepare units
- Act as a technical resource for clients and colleagues, answering troubleshooting questions over the phone and by email
- Contribute to warranty assessments and service investigations
- Own each job from the first diagnosis until it is closed out
- Resolve technical problems together with equipment makers and suppliers, and track down the spares each repair needs
- Record finished jobs, repairs and parts used clearly
- Help in the workshop and warehouse when required
- Present the service team well to every client while observing electrical safety rules and set workplace procedures
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised trade qualification as an electrician, and a relevant electrical licence or eligibility to obtain the required licensing
- Proven hands-on electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skill, with the independence to diagnose and clear technical faults yourself
- A strong grasp of circuits, wiring, controls and electrical components
- Demonstrated background maintaining and fixing electrical equipment, whether commercial, industrial, appliance or electro-mechanical
- Commercial kitchen or foodservice equipment experience is advantageous
- Previous field service or mobile technician experience is highly regarded
- Sharp analytical and practical problem-solving ability, backed by good organisation and job management
- Polished communication and customer service, and the ability to cooperate with technicians, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers
- A dependable manner and close attention to safety and quality
- Gas-related experience or licensing is advantageous; forklift experience or licence is also advantageous
- Current Australian driver's licence or equivalent
- Genuine documents to back up your qualifications and work history; overseas applicants with suitable trade backgrounds may be considered, and visa sponsorship is available for eligible, suitably qualified applicants
