Farming Manager

This is a senior agricultural leadership role in Western Australia's Wheatbelt for a professional with a strong, verifiable record in large-scale farming. Beyond practical agricultural knowledge, you will need the leadership, planning and commercial judgement to manage significant farming assets.
You will direct cropping, pasture, fodder and irrigation, help set the operation's future direction and turn your experience into measurable gains in productivity, land use, efficiency and financial results. Substantial autonomy comes with the backing of an established business and experienced farming, agronomy and livestock teams.
The package includes approximately $150,000 base salary, a new dual-cab vehicle, five-bedroom on-farm accommodation and performance-based bonus opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Head farming operations across extensive properties, leading and developing farm supervisors, overseers and machinery operators
- Prepare seasonal operating plans around production targets, resources and farm conditions, and direct cropping, pasture, fodder and irrigation programs
- Control annual budgets, forecasts, spending and capital investment, taking accountability for operational and financial outcomes
- Monitor productivity, crop and pasture results and operating costs, using operational data to guide planning and decisions
- Oversee production of oats, barley, wheat, vetch and irrigated sorghum
- Partner with agronomists on soil health, pasture establishment and crop performance, keeping land management sustainable
- Align fodder needs with the wider livestock and feed operations
- Assess and deliver land improvement, productivity and capital projects that lift efficiency and long-term asset value
- Make full use of precision agriculture, GPS and digital farm-management technology
- Lead workforce planning, training, performance and development, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement
- Manage contractors, suppliers and agricultural service providers, and keep communication open with internal operational and agricultural teams
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated senior-level experience in farming or agricultural operations, including proven management of cropping, livestock or mixed farming
- Strong practical knowledge of large-scale agricultural production, agricultural machinery and modern farming practice
- Demonstrated understanding of agronomy, weed control and chemical use
- Experience with farm budgets, forecasting, cost management and production planning, backed by strong commercial and operational decision-making
- Experience using GPS, precision agriculture and digital farm-management systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop agricultural teams, with strong planning, communication and stakeholder management
- A track record of responsible farm management and measurable results that you can demonstrate
- Agriculture, Agribusiness or a related tertiary qualification highly regarded
- ChemCert or equivalent qualification advantageous; HR or MC licence advantageous
- Current driver's licence required
- Able to meet applicable Australian employment and visa requirements, with visa sponsorship available for the right candidate
