Where industry depends on critical equipment, skilled mechanical fitters keep it running, repaired and improving. A professional engineering and maintenance outfit in Western Australia is filling a permanent position with a qualified Fitter whose hands-on background spans heavy industrial, workshop or site-based work, backed by a strong track record. You would look after industrial plant both in the workshop and at client locations.

The workload is practical and varied, taking in mechanical maintenance, overhauls, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, fault-finding and capital improvement projects. Overseas applicants are matched to the role on their verified qualifications and work history, and those who are eligible may be considered for employer-sponsored visa pathways. Key Responsibilities

  • Keep industrial machinery and mechanical gear in service through maintenance, repairs and full overhauls, covering fixed plant, mobile equipment and their associated systems
  • Undertake fitting and assembly tasks both in the workshop and on client sites
  • Use technical documentation, drawings and specifications to plan each job and pick the right tools, materials and methods
  • Check components for defects, wear or damage, and measure them to confirm tolerances, dimensions, fit and alignment
  • Shape and modify metal parts by grinding, cutting, forming and pressing
  • Fit and look after pneumatic and hydraulic pipework and fluid power systems, handling pipe cutting, bending and threading
  • Look into equipment problems, pinpoint mechanical faults and complete both breakdown repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Contribute to machinery rebuilds, refurbishment, improvement programs and sustainable capital and upgrade works
  • Document what maintenance uncovers and pass technical details on to supervisors, site personnel and fellow tradespeople so jobs finish efficiently
  • Follow set procedures and Zero Harm principles at all times, with professional workmanship on every assignment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Recognised Fitting and Turning trade qualification, or an equivalent qualification in a mechanical trade
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical fitting experience drawn from heavy industry, manufacturing, industrial workshops or site-based maintenance
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, with exposure to fixed plant, mobile equipment, pneumatic or hydraulic systems
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and mechanical drawings, and to handle mechanical tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Strong fault-finding and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Employment history that is demonstrable, verifiable and relevant to the position, plus evidence to back up your qualifications and practical trade experience
  • A strong grasp of workplace health and safety requirements and a commitment to a Zero Harm, safety-focused working environment
  • Capable of working independently and within a professional team; previous supervisory, mentoring or leadership experience is advantageous
  • Current driver's licence
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and satisfy fitness-for-work requirements, and willingness to work in both workshop and client-site environments in Western Australia
