HR and Recruitment Team Lead

Growth at a long-standing Western Australian industrial business has created an opening for a seasoned HR & Recruitment Team Lead. The brief is to put capable, dependable teams in place, using structured hiring, well-defined workforce processes and confident people leadership.

Heading a compact people function, you will own every step that links operational teams to the right talent, from pinpointing workforce needs and weighing up candidate backgrounds to supporting verification and arranging onboarding, so hiring becomes clearer and more reliable. Work spans workshop, metropolitan and project-based sites, with recruitment both within Australia and from overseas. For HR professionals leading teams in Dubai or Riyadh, it is a considered career step.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide and coach the people in the HR and Recruitment team so workforce objectives are met
  • Design hiring processes that produce sound candidate assessment and dependable outcomes, and keep refining recruitment systems, HR workflows and operational efficiency
  • Own hiring from start to finish for white-collar and blue-collar positions, checking each applicant's work history, qualifications, experience and supporting documents
  • Partner with operations managers to map today's and tomorrow's workforce needs, building talent pipelines ahead of new projects and growth
  • Look after the recruitment and processing of overseas and employer-sponsored hires, handling sponsorship requirements, compliance paperwork and liaison with the relevant migration providers
  • Arrange onboarding and mobilisation for staff joining metropolitan, workshop and project-based teams
  • Manage the business's dealings with labour hire firms and outside recruitment suppliers
  • Advise on grievances, investigations, disciplinary matters, performance issues and wider employee relations, applying internal policies, the relevant Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, and Australian employment law
  • Report on workforce data, HR metrics and how recruitment is performing, while coordinating staff reviews, training initiatives and skills matrix needs

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 5 years in a senior HR and recruitment leadership position, with proven experience handling high-volume, end-to-end hiring for blue-collar workforces
  • Experience in candidate assessment, recruitment compliance and employment documentation
  • Knowledge of international recruitment and employer-sponsored visas is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, together with experience in employee relations, workforce planning and performance management
  • Experience within mining, construction, resources, fabrication or heavy industrial environments is highly regarded
  • Proven ability to develop, mentor and lead a team, plus excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A practical, proactive, solution-focused approach and the capacity to juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving operational setting
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience with HRIS and recruitment systems
  • Eligible for employer sponsorship where required
