Heading up people functions for project-based companies in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh and weighing your next move? An organisation in Stones Corner, Brisbane, is appointing a Human Resources Manager on a part-time basis to lead its HR agenda in Queensland.
Where operations are demanding, policy expertise is only the starting point. The organisation wants someone with a proven record, good judgement and the assurance to deal comfortably with site teams as well as executives.
Overseeing core HR, you will keep a 160-plus workforce skilled, motivated and compliant. Expect your experience to be checked: it should be authentic and verifiable. For seasoned professionals, it is a considered career step.
Key Responsibilities
- Design practical people strategies, put them into action and counsel senior management on staffing needs
- Lead hiring and talent attraction, mapping future skills and succession
- Lift staff engagement and keep good people in the business
- Resolve performance concerns and employee relations cases, conducting investigations, managing grievances and coordinating discipline
- Ensure the business meets employment legislation and award obligations, and keep HR policies, procedures and records current
- Compile HR metrics and workforce reporting, and contribute to pay review cycles
- Assist with injury management and getting injured staff back to work
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven history in an HR Manager or senior HR role; holding a relevant tertiary qualification is preferred
- Industry exposure to construction, mining, engineering, infrastructure or another comparable operational field
- Strong command of Australian employment law, together with a grasp of modern awards and the workplace relations system
- Demonstrated experience handling employee relations matters and investigations, and a solid track record in recruitment and workforce planning
- Excellent analysis, communication and negotiation, with the ability to engage everyone from senior leaders to operational workers
- Practical use of HRIS and payroll platforms, and the self-reliance to operate independently in a hands-on setting
- Sponsorship or migration experience highly regarded
