HVAC Tradesperson / Air Conditioning Technician

If you have spent years under bonnets and beside heavy plant, the right move should lead somewhere more specialised than an ordinary workshop. At Smeaton Grange in Sydney, a dedicated mechanical operation maintains fleet vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for aviation.
Selection rests on demonstrated trade ability, qualifications that check out and a steady employment record. Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair light and heavy vehicles as well as specialised GSE, covering planned servicing and preventative work
- Inspect equipment thoroughly to find faults, and diagnose mechanical, diesel and hydraulic problems
- Attend breakdowns and return equipment to working order
- Apply practical diagnostic judgement to choose the most efficient repair
- Work on specialised equipment that supports aviation operations
- Observe established safety procedures in controlled environments
- Record completed maintenance, repairs, faults and service activity accurately in the required systems
- Collaborate with other mechanics, supervisors and customers
- Represent the business with professionalism
- Store tools and equipment neatly and keep every work area safe and compliant
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant trade qualification in Light Vehicle or Heavy Diesel Mechanics
- Minimum 5 years of relevant practical mechanical experience preferred
- Demonstrated hands-on work with light vehicles, heavy vehicles or heavy equipment, backed by strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skill
- Genuine, verifiable trade experience, plus the qualification and employment documents to support it
- Sound knowledge of safe work practice and maintenance procedures
- Capable of working independently and contributing positively to a team
- A current HR Driver Licence
- Diesel and hydraulic experience is advantageous
- Breakdown maintenance experience is advantageous
- Welding skills are advantageous
- Ground Support Equipment or aviation experience is advantageous
- Able to obtain a Police Clearance as well as an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Able to pass the required drug and alcohol screening, and willing to have your identity, qualifications and employment verified
