An expanding industrial coatings business in Western Australia wants an experienced Blaster Painter with real, hands-on skill in abrasive blasting, surface preparation and applying protective coatings. Key Responsibilities
- Abrasive-blast a variety of industrial products and surfaces, preparing each one to the required specifications ahead of coating
- Check prepared surfaces are fit for coating, then apply epoxy, urethane and other protective coating systems
- Run blast pots, compressors, spray gear and related tools, setting up blasting and painting equipment the right way
- Watch the coating as it goes on to get an even finish and consistent coverage
- Spot problems with surfaces, coatings or equipment and report them through the proper channels
- Clean, inspect and service blasting and coating equipment
- Deliver work to required quality standards and project timeframes, keeping work practices accurate and consistent on every job
- Comply with Australian Standards, industry requirements and workplace safety procedures
- Cooperate with supervisors and fellow tradespeople
- Keep the work area safe, tidy and organised
- Take on occasional night or weekend work when required, paid at applicable penalty rates
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years’ genuine hands-on experience in abrasive blasting, with demonstrated industrial blasting and protective coating experience
- Proven quality surface preparation and practical experience applying industrial protective coatings, built on a strong understanding of blasting, preparation and coating processes
- Able to show and verify relevant trade experience
- Keen attention to detail, pride in your workmanship and a steady commitment to workplace health and safety
- A dependable work ethic and a professional approach, working independently while contributing effectively to a team
- Physically able to work in a demanding industrial environment
- Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application is highly regarded
- AMPP/NACE or recognised protective coatings qualifications are highly regarded
- Forklift licence and White Card are both highly regarded
- Applicants must satisfy the relevant employment and compliance requirements
