Good commercial landscapes begin with tradespeople who prepare a site properly, work with precision and see a job through to a quality finish. A professional crew in the Northern Territory is adding a skilled Commercial Landscaper to its ongoing landscape construction programme around Darwin.
The work covers the full spread of the trade: excavation and site preparation, drainage and irrigation, paving, retaining structures, turfing, planting, and general hard and soft landscaping. It suits an experienced professional who can prove their practical ability and is happy to own the quality of their work.
Preference goes to applicants whose experience, qualifications and hands-on skills can be verified, and who want a genuine long-term role. Please read the work-rights points in the requirements carefully before applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sites through excavation and groundworks, then complete accurate set-out, levelling and base preparation
- Lay turf and install plants, mulch and other softscape elements
- Build paving, edging, minor concrete work, retaining walls and other landscape structures
- Put in drainage and irrigation systems
- Run plant, machinery and landscaping equipment safely, following health and safety procedures at every stage
- Take on general commercial landscape construction tasks with consistent quality, close attention to detail and professional standards on every site
- Keep tools, gear and work areas tidy and well organised
- Work at a steady pace to hit project timelines and construction targets
- Keep supervisors and crew members informed, working on your own when needed while still adding to the wider team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years' proven landscape construction experience, with the ability to show genuine hands-on landscaping work
- Strong practical understanding of commercial landscaping processes; a relevant formal landscaping qualification is advantageous
- Current full driver's licence essential, and own reliable transport essential
- MR driver's licence advantageous
- Current White Card essential
- Permanent Australian work rights preferred
- Temporary residents need not apply
- Visa sponsorship available for eligible applicants
- Working with Children Card (OCHRE), or willingness to obtain one; DCAC for Robertson Barracks advantageous
- Dependable, punctual and committed to your employment, with a strong focus on safety and quality workmanship
- Physically able to carry out outdoor landscape construction work, both as part of a team and independently
- Ready to commit to a stable, long-term position
