A well-established Queensland cabinetry and joinery business plans to appoint two trade-qualified Cabinetmakers into Leading Hand roles. It is a considered career step for experienced professionals who combine strong bench skills with the confidence to lead.
You will keep your hands on the tools while guiding a compact production crew and making sure the workshop runs efficiently from day to day. Your trade background, technical ability and leadership track record will each need to be clearly evidenced and checked.

Key Responsibilities
- Direct and mentor the cabinetmakers and apprentices, offering technical advice whenever the team needs it
- Organise the daily workflow and keep workshop production on schedule
- Build and assemble cabinetry and joinery, running the workshop machinery and equipment
- Work from drawings, plans and specifications to make sure every job is built as designed
- Check measurements, workmanship and finished pieces before they leave the workshop
- Keep watch over output and quality, stepping in to troubleshoot production problems
- Lend support on installation work when it is required
- Run a safe, well-ordered workshop that meets its production deadlines and quality targets
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade-qualified Cabinetmaker holding a Certificate III or equivalent
- Strong cabinetmaking and joinery experience at a professional level, plus hands-on technical capability you can demonstrate
- Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience preferred
- Able to lead and support a small team, with a strong grasp of how workshop production operates
- Able to read and interpret plans and technical drawings
- Good organisational and communication skills, with close attention to detail and quality standards
- A reliable, safety-conscious way of working, and relevant experience that must be supported by appropriate qualifications and employment history
