Operating production lines in Dubai, Sharjah or Dammam and ready for a considered career step? In Wanaka, Otago, a packaging operation is bringing in new equipment and lifting its level of automation, and it needs an experienced Machine Operator who can keep output flowing.
The emphasis is firmly practical. You should be able to show real experience running machinery, adjusting settings, picking up faults and holding production standards steady.
Your know-how will go beyond running the line: you will also help make the equipment perform better. In time, the position can grow into a specialist role centred on packaging machinery, automation and production optimisation, a genuine long-term path in New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Run production and packaging machinery safely and efficiently, owning the performance and condition of the equipment assigned to you
- Set machines up ready for production, carry out product changeovers and fine-tune operating settings
- Watch machinery throughout each run, tracking quality and operating conditions and acting on performance issues
- Spot faults, stoppages and anything unusual, and troubleshoot using hands-on mechanical knowledge
- Handle routine cleaning, lubrication and basic upkeep of equipment
- Keep production records and complete the required operational paperwork
- Work to food safety, quality and workplace health and safety procedures
- Lend a hand with packaging, kegging, warehousing and moving finished product, keeping production flowing reliably
- Support installation and commissioning of new machines, help test and tune automated equipment, and look for ways to cut stoppages and improve performance
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years of relevant machine operating or manufacturing experience, including demonstrated work on production or industrial machinery
- Previous experience as a Machine Operator, Production Operator or in a similar role
- Strong practical mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability, with experience in basic mechanical maintenance and equipment care
- Able to set up machines, make accurate operational adjustments, recognise equipment faults and investigate what caused them
- Strong focus on safety and production quality, with good attention to detail when checking machinery and finished goods
- A practical, hands-on approach, the ability to work independently and readiness to take ownership of machine performance
- Interest in automation, modern machinery and production technology; packaging, canning, bottling, food or beverage production experience is advantageous
- Able to provide evidence of relevant machinery and production experience
- Willing to relocate to Otago and build a long-term career in New Zealand; eligible international applicants may be considered for sponsorship
