Day to day, you will work confidently from engineering drawings, set and run CNC machines, take care of manual machining and deliver parts that hold up to demanding standards. Key Responsibilities
- Translate engineering drawings, specs and machining needs into a plan, picking suitable tooling, materials and processes
- Program, set up and operate CNC lathes and CNC machining centres according to the job at hand
- Run Okuma machines or equivalent CNC gear, applying One-Touch programming when a job requires it
- Handle conventional machining work on manual lathes and similar equipment
- Machine precision metal parts to the stated specifications, then verify finished parts for quality and accuracy
- Troubleshoot problems with machines or machining as they come up
- Carry out routine upkeep and housekeeping on machines, with tidy, safe workshop habits
- Stick to the quality and production procedures already in place
- Deliver work efficiently against production schedules and project needs
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised trade qualification in Metal Machining or equivalent, backed by at least 3 years of post-trade machining experience
- Solid hands-on CNC background, including time on CNC lathes and machining centres
- Okuma experience is highly desirable
- One-Touch programming experience is advantageous
- Confident with technical drawings, and meticulous about quality and precision
- Able to show genuine trade and employment experience that can be verified
- Forklift LF Class licence preferred
- Australian Driver’s Licence preferred
- Able to complete pre-employment medical requirements and a drug and alcohol screening
- Full Australian work rights or eligibility for employer sponsorship
