Maintenance Fitter

An established FMCG manufacturing operation in Western Australia wants a qualified Maintenance Fitter who treats equipment reliability as the core of the job. Output on a fast-moving production floor depends on machinery that keeps running, so the focus here is on spotting problems early and stopping failures before they happen.
Your days will cover planned maintenance, mechanical fault-finding, repairs, inspections and improvement work, with your know-how feeding straight into keeping the lines moving. Candidates are assessed on verifiable qualifications, genuine work history and technical ability, so each person is matched to a role that fits their background.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and complete preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing and inspections on production machinery and fixed plant
- React quickly to breakdowns and equipment failures, diagnosing the mechanical fault and carrying out repairs that limit production downtime
- Check machinery regularly to catch developing mechanical issues early
- Look after conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic equipment
- Look into faults that keep coming back and put forward corrective actions
- Help with changeovers and modifications to production equipment, as well as upgrades and continuous improvement projects
- Keep maintenance and service records accurate and up to date
- Partner with production staff so the plant runs reliably
- Observe workplace health and safety requirements at all times, along with food manufacturing, hygiene and site-specific procedures
- Help build a proactive, professional maintenance culture
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent qualification, backed by genuine and verifiable trade qualifications and employment experience
- Proven background working as a qualified Maintenance Fitter, together with experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume production environments
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Hands-on experience maintaining automated production equipment and fixed plant, including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic systems
- A practical grasp of preventative maintenance strategies
- Confidence working through both breakdown and planned maintenance
- A clear focus on safety, machinery reliability and production efficiency
- Capable of working on your own and as an effective member of a maintenance team, with good communication and hands-on problem-solving skills
- Willing to work a rotating roster of day and afternoon shifts
