Specialist thermoforming knowledge is the key to this Maintenance Fitter position with an established food manufacturer in Western Australia.
The client wants an experienced tradesperson who can prove real hands-on skill in maintaining, troubleshooting and fine-tuning high-speed manufacturing machinery. General maintenance experience alone is not the focus; verified technical expertise and practical thermoforming know-how are. You will support sophisticated production equipment where reliability, precision and quick fault diagnosis are essential.
Experience with MULTIVAC thermoforming equipment, especially R-Series machinery, will be highly regarded. For fitters maintaining production lines across the Gulf, this is a considered next step.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver both preventative and reactive maintenance across thermoforming and packaging lines
- Find and fix mechanical faults on high-speed production equipment, including thermoforming, heating, forming and sealing systems
- Look after vacuum and compressed air systems as well as film feed and tension control systems
- Work on servo-driven and automated production machinery
- Keep MAP and vacuum packaging operations running
- Handle tooling changes, line changeovers and equipment adjustments, optimising machine performance
- Run root cause analysis on recurring equipment faults
- Spot ways to boost machinery reliability and cut downtime
- Partner with production and engineering teams to keep output consistent
- Help install and commission machinery
- React quickly to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance needs
- Follow safety and operational procedures on every maintenance task
- Play an active part in preventative maintenance programs and continuous improvement
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Tradesperson
- A track record in food manufacturing, packaging, processing or another similar production setting
- Hands-on, proven work on thermoforming machinery, backed by a strong grasp of how thermoforming equipment and processes operate
- Exposure to MULTIVAC is highly desirable
- Time on MULTIVAC R-Series machines is advantageous
- Familiar with forming stations, heating plates, sealing systems and cutting and punching equipment
- Has worked with servo-driven machinery and with vacuum and compressed air systems
- Sound grasp of tension control and film feed systems
- Background in MAP or vacuum packaging technology highly regarded
- Strong skills in diagnosing faults and mechanical troubleshooting
- Hands-on exposure to hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Capable of tracing complex equipment failures back to their cause
- Comfortable working on your own and under the pressure of production
- A safety-first mindset with sound preventative maintenance habits, plus good communication and teamwork
- Willing to work rotating early and afternoon shifts
