Maintenance Foreperson

Trade · Marlborough, Marlborough, New Zealand · Full-Time · $25/hr

For supervisors who have kept road networks and civil works moving in places like Abu Dhabi, Muscat or Jeddah, this New Zealand role offers a considered next step rather than just another listing. An experienced Roading Maintenance Supervisor is needed to run day-to-day road maintenance operations in Marlborough.

You will lead from the front, organise a small crew and stay composed as priorities shift across a demanding network. It suits a hands-on leader who is comfortable making decisions on the ground and responding quickly when the roads need urgent attention.

  • Set daily work programmes, rank maintenance priorities and help deliver maintenance programmes effectively
  • Oversee both routine and urgent maintenance activity across the network
  • Inspect the road network for defects, hazards and possible safety risks, then decide on the right corrective action
  • Log defects and maintenance data using GPS and tablet-based systems
  • Organise emergency responses and urgent repairs, including night-time incidents, animal hazards and other pressing road issues, as part of an on-call roster
  • Check work quality, crew performance and the activities of contractors
  • Keep operations compliant with health, safety and traffic management requirements
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and operational teams

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A proven background in civil construction or road maintenance
  • Prior experience at roading supervisor or foreman level
  • Sound knowledge of road construction materials and maintenance methods
  • Demonstrated capability leading and coordinating a small crew
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong decision-making, planning and organisational ability, with the capacity to work independently as conditions change
  • Comfortable with tablets, GPS and basic computer systems; experience with AWM or RAMM is highly advantageous
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, plus an understanding of traffic management requirements
  • Able to stay calm and act effectively in emergency situations
  • Class 2 New Zealand driver's licence or an equivalent
  • International roading experience that is relevant will be considered
  • Able to provide verifiable records of your employment, qualifications and experience; sponsorship is available for suitable international candidates
