Management Accountant

A well-established construction business in New South Wales, running a growing portfolio of projects, is adding a Management Accountant to bolster its finance function and help steer the financial management of the operation.

Expect more than bookkeeping. You will report to the CFO, handle meaningful financial information and work alongside senior leadership, gaining a clear view of the commercial side of an established Australian company. Your remit spans financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and finance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own month-end accounting together with the related reconciliations
  • Keep the general ledger and broader financial information accurate
  • Produce monthly reporting across the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
  • Review financial results and turn them into practical management information
  • Build financial analysis and reports tailored to management requirements
  • Play a part in the annual budget and in ongoing forecasts
  • Support overhead planning and keep track of financial performance
  • Oversee daily cash management and contribute to cash flow forecasting
  • Look for ways to sharpen finance processes and lift reporting accuracy
  • Protect the reliability of financial data across accounting systems and integrations, keeping finance systems efficient and sound
  • Partner with the CFO and finance team on commercial and project initiatives
  • Work alongside operational teams within a complex construction environment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • CA or CPA qualified, or presently progressing towards qualification
  • A strong grounding in financial reporting and accounting principles
  • Hands-on experience with month-end accounting procedures
  • Experience across management reporting, budgeting or forecasting
  • Strong capability in Excel and financial systems
  • Able to analyse financial information and identify issues or opportunities
  • Strong attention to financial detail and accuracy
  • Clear communication and professional skills in managing stakeholders, working effectively with both finance and non-finance teams
  • Construction or project-based accounting experience is advantageous
  • Jobpac experience is advantageous
  • Strong candidates coming from Big 4 or mid-tier audit or Business Services backgrounds are encouraged to apply
  • Candidates with approximately 6–12 months or more of commercial accounting experience may be considered
  • Sponsorship available for the right candidate
