Mechanic

Qualified mechanics will join a specialised maintenance team in Western Australia, looking after fleet vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) used in aviation operations. The work goes beyond a standard workshop, giving you scope to put diagnostic, mechanical and breakdown-maintenance skills to use on many kinds of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service and maintain fleet vehicles alongside specialised mechanical equipment
  • Pinpoint faults in mechanical, diesel and hydraulic systems and carry out repairs based on accurate diagnosis
  • Deliver scheduled preventative maintenance as well as corrective repairs
  • Respond to breakdowns and urgent mechanical maintenance needs, and back up colleagues during breakdowns, servicing and repair work
  • Work on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and other specialised fleet assets
  • Evaluate equipment condition to spot potential mechanical problems early
  • Finish every repair to the required safety and quality standards
  • Keep service and maintenance records clear and accurate
  • Report on completed jobs, faults found and any further repairs needed
  • Operate independently while keeping communication with the wider team effective
  • Keep tools and equipment safe and serviceable, following workplace, operational and specialised aviation safety procedures
  • Present the organisation professionally in dealings with clients and site personnel

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic or Heavy Diesel Mechanic
  • Approximately 5 years or more of relevant industry experience preferred
  • Proven hands-on mechanical experience on light or heavy vehicles, with the ability to demonstrate genuine practical trade experience
  • Heavy equipment or fleet maintenance experience is advantageous
  • Current HR Driver’s Licence
  • Sharp mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • A reliable, professional work ethic and strong attention to safety and quality
  • Comfortable working on your own and as part of a team
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Able to obtain a Police Clearance and an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Able to successfully complete drug and alcohol screening
  • Diesel mechanical experience is advantageous
  • Experience with hydraulic systems is advantageous
  • Breakdown maintenance experience is advantageous
  • Welding skills are advantageous
  • Background in Ground Support Equipment or the aviation sector is advantageous
  • Able to work in a specialised, safety-critical operating environment
